Barnes, ClaireClaire is an experienced teacher, who specialises in teaching mathematics and leading assessment. She is accredited with a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Mathematics. As a System Leader, she has planned and delivered bespoke training courses on how to implement, lead and monitor mastery maths. She also delivers bespoke training in the effective use of data and assessment within primary schools and specialises in developing metacognitive strategies when teaching mathematics to support pupil's ability to think systematically and work through challenging problems.

In her current role as maths lead, she supports colleagues in strengthening their subject knowledge and developing their approach to teaching mathematics. She has successfully implemented a mastery approach to teaching and learning in maths, which led to an upward trend of results at the end of key stage 2 ensuring that pupils made excellent progress. Claire is responsible for leading assessment and data across all key stages. She has implemented effective methods of assessment and developed teacher's understanding of assessment. She is also very experienced in the use of INSIGHT; a platform for schools to input data and generate detailed reports. 

She is extremely passionate about teaching, especially mathematics, and is driven by her aspiration to ensure that pupils achieve their full potential. Claire is a positive and enthusiastic leader, who enjoys working with colleagues to share her experiences and knowledge gained throughout her career, so far. In recent years, she has lectured at Newcastle University, leading sessions on how to develop mastery maths within a school. Also, she currently supports local primary schools in their implementation and development of assessment.
