National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) with Red Kite Teaching School Hub
Red Kite Teaching School Hub is partnering with the education charity Teach First to offer the new suite of NPQ programmes this autumn, helping teachers and school leaders to build leadership skills and capacity.
What the programmes look like
Designed with busy teachers in mind, the brand-new suite of six NPQs comprises three specialist programmes – in Leading Teaching (NPQLT), Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC) and Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD) - and three leadership programmes – in Senior Leadership (NPQSL), Headship (NPQH) and Executive Leadership (NPQEL). There are two possible start dates, November 2021 and February 2022.
Developed nationally, delivered locally
Red Kite Teaching School Hub will be leading the NPQs in our region, building on over ten years’ experience of successful NPQ delivery. Teach First offer considerable expertise in leadership training, and will provide the programme content, tools and resources to create a high quality experience for the teachers enrolled on the programmes.
Facilitation will be provided by trusted teachers from local schools. Our partner schools reflect the diversity of schools across our region: urban and rural; academies and maintained schools; faith schools and community schools; primary, secondary and special. That means that our NPQ seminars will always be sensitive to local schools’ context and circumstances, helping leaders to translate programme content into their individual settings.
DfE has announced that NPQ scholarships will be available as follows:
- The NPQLTD will be fully funded for all those in state funded schools in England.
- NPQLBC, NPQLT and NPQSL will be fully funded for those in a state funded school in England that is within the top 30th percentile in relation to pupils on Pupil Premium as of the end of the previous academic year.
- NPQH will be fully funded for those in a state funded school in England that is within the top 30th percentile in relation to pupils on Pupil Premium as of the end of the previous academic year. Or are a headteacher leading a school, in their first 2 academic years of headship and work in a state funded school in England.
Teachers can apply for NPQ programmes whether or not they qualify for scholarships. The cost of programmes to those not in receipt of scholarships is available on our website.
