Level 3 Certificate
Supporting Teaching and Learning
Are you looking to make a positive step towards your future?
Are you 18 or over and interested in a career as a Teaching Assistant? Then this course is for you!
The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning course is a nationally recognised and respected qualification equivalent to an A-Level. It is designed to support those who would like a career supporting the teacher in the classroom (teaching assistant). The Swaledale Alliance is an approved centre for delivery of this course.
Our course runs for the full academic year. You will be required to gain 'real work' experience in a school. We recommend a minimum of two days per week (or the equivalent) to gain the necessary experience to meet the qualification skills requirements.
You will also be required to attend our knowledge and support sessions each week. These run on a Monday evening, (17:00 – 19:00). Each evening session will be held at Brompton-on-Swale CE School.
Method of Assessment
You will compile a portfolio of evidence and written assignments which demonstrates your learning against each of the assessment criteria for the course. You will also have regular visits in school from the course assessors and will receive marking and feedback support during the evening sessions. You should expect to allow at least 5 hours per week for research and homework.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum age - 18
The Swaledale Alliance is dedicated to providing high quality training. Preference on our programme will be given to those who have GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above. This is in line with DfE recommendations for the role of Teaching Assistant. Applicants who do not have GCSEs (or equivalent) but are working towards these qualifications will also be considered.
Please note that this post is subject to Enhanced DBS Clearance.
