Specialism - Art
Jill Eagle has been teaching across the KS2 age range for 20 years. Since 2015 she has become a specialist art teacher covering PPA in all classes at Wavell Junior. Jill is a practicing artist with a degree in Art History and English Literature. She has been Art Subject Leader in all her teaching jobs.
Jill has used her knowledge of art history and her practical skills to create in depth plans and to teach outstanding lessons across the key stage, linking them to year group topics. She has led Art Weeks in each year group, in which she works alongside the class teachers. Jill has also organised Creativity Days in which the children run arts workshops for the rest of the children to attend and learn new skills. She has carried out art workshops on behalf of the Swaledale Festival, as part of a community arts project. Jill also runs an after school art club and puts on termly art exhibitions at Wavell Gallery to celebrate the children’s work.
Jill believes that art is a vital part of children’s education and is keen to support teachers by sharing her enthusiasm and knowledge.
