Samantha Marino

Specialism: Initial Teacher Training and Maths

 

Sam is currently Head of School at Crakehall Primary School and a leading practitioner at Synergy Schools and works alongside trainee teachers in her role as Professional Studies Tutor and Lead School Based Mentor at High Force Education SCITT in Barnard Castle. 

Having developed a 20 day professional studies curriculum Sam has up to date knowledge on theorists, behaviour management and general teaching and learning strategies, alongside with what makes a good/outstanding teacher. Being part of the curriculum and management team (for High Force Education SCITT) she has a positive influence on the wider curriculum. Part of her role is to ensure all trainee teachers receive an array of opportunities to work along outstanding practitioners and professional tutors. She has supported a vast amount of trainees that have been highlighted ‘at risk’ of failing and used mentoring skills that have had a positive and effective impact. Being the lead School Based Mentor for High Force enables her to work, support and coach trainee teachers within a school setting.  Her pedagogy has been graded as outstanding on many occasions.

Joanne Mottram

Specialism: Physical Education, Initial Teacher Training and NQT Development

Jo is currently a senior teacher at Leeming and Londonderry Primary School where she is subject leader for English and PE. She leads both subjects with passion and shares her experience and expertise with other leaders.  Jo also supports the delivery of PE CPD for the Local Authority where she works with PE leaders and class teachers to develop the teaching of PE and raise awareness of how this can have a positive impact on the wider curriculum.

Throughout her career, she has gained vast experience of teaching in Key Stage One and Two by teaching all of the age ranges and has an in-depth knowledge of teaching mixed age classes.  

Jo was a former AST in ITT working successfully with both graduate and undergraduate trainees.   Her SLE role in ITT encompasses supporting trainees and NQT’s to become outstanding practitioners by sharing outstanding practise.  Jo works closely with trainees, school staff and, most importantly the pupils, ensuring all children are taught an enriched fulfilling curriculum in which they can reach their potential by excellent practitioners.

Her belief is that being a Senior Leader in Education opens doors to inspire and enthuse others to have a significant impact on the children in our care.
