Primary Computing Development Group

Ideas, support, sharing and networking for Computing subject leaders

What is it?

An opportunity to create a network with colleagues to develop a community of good practice and support for subject leaders as we embed the 2014 Computing curriculum into primary school teaching and learning.  The Autumn and Summer sessions are free of charge.  Each spring the facilitators organise a Digital Leader Day where pupils can experience new technologies. These sessions are also open to non Alliance schools. Please enquire with the Alliance admin team for the cost on 01748 818195.

Tony Whiteley

Tony has over 10 years teaching experience in Lancashire and North Yorkshire.  He has taught in upper KS2 and latterly a Reception/Year 1 class.  After moving to Applegarth School in September 2013 he made an immediate impact in the way the school uses technology to support learning in the classroom.  He facilitates Digital Leader Workshops to trial new technologies and is keen to support others delivering the Computing curriculum.

Development Group sessions 2018 /19:

An Autumn and Summer development session are held each academic year in addition to the ever popular Digital Leader Day held each Spring. Schools can book on a small group of upper KS2 children with two members of staff to experience new technologies.  Computing Leads from Alliance schools are always needed to assist with the experience of the Digital Leader Day.  Please contact twhiteley@applegarth.n-yorks.sch.uk to be involved.

Time:  1.30 p.m.

Venue:  Applegarth Primary School, Upwell Road, Northallerton, DL7 8QF.

Summer 2018

Date:  Thursday 27th June 2019 

Time: 1.30 p.m. 

Venue: Le Cateau Primary School, Brough Road, Catterick Garrison, DL9 4ED.

This is an opportunity to create a network with colleagues to enhance mutual understanding and develop a community of good practice and support subject leaders as we launch into the brave new world of the Computing curriculum.  The sessions are open to non Alliance schools at a cost of £60 per delegate.
