Convince Me Maths CONVINCE ME MATHS LOGO

Convince Me Maths is an exciting, whole school, approach to teaching maths which has been developed by Brompton-on-Swale Teaching School and has been introduced in other Swaledale Alliance schools. It has already had a significant impact on outcomes and has been praised by OfSTED.

CMM is based on a number of key research theories, approaches and resources to create a rigorous, evidence based, approach to learning mathematics.

“Mathematics lessons have become more challenging. Teachers now focus on getting pupils to explain their thinking and to demonstrate to one another how they solve mathematical problems. Pupils enjoy the challenge and display confidence when given new and unfamiliar questions to tackle.

Most teachers are adept at asking probing questions to check pupils’ level of confidence and quickly spotting any misconceptions. Because of this they are able to adapt lessons as they proceed”
